Olorun, also: Olodumaré

Highest-ranking deity of the Candomblé *), embodies the creative principle, the origin of all things. His breaths fill the universe and connect the sky to the earth, and therefore the heavenly invisible world to the physical and visible.

The Orixás *) are revelations of his power and "and "mediators between the Supreme Being of Olorun and believers" (Moema Parente Augel - see keyword Orixás).

Appears most readily through his son Obatalá, also: Oxalá, to whom he gave the task of creating of all living things. No cults or ceremonies are actually dedicated to Olorun; he remains unattainable for believers and has no direct influence over their fate.
