Yemanjá, also: Iemanjá
Orixá *) of water, lives in the depths of the sea, mother of many other Orixás. Represents motherly love, fertility, feminine beauty. One of the most popular of deities, decorated as a queen. Associated with the various appearances of Saint Maria.
On February 2 (In Catholicism, Mariä Candlemas), in honor of the sea goddess, a festival is celebrated at all points along the bay of Baía de Todos os Santos and the Atlantic. On this occasion, miniature ships containing flowers and presents are floated across the water.
