On commission as a photo-reporter, Pierre Fatumbi traveled for several magazines to all five continents, which brought him to the Caribbean and North America as well.
His work illustrates with great diversity how the common African heritage of Brazil, the Caribbean and North America expresses itself even now in music, dance, architecture, art, and cuisine. Verger essentially contributed to the (self)understanding of the modern multiethnic societies of the 'Black Americas' (Roger Bastide) bei.
