Capoeira is a kind of danced, martial-arts sport performed to the sound of a berimbau *) or "gunga", whose model was imported from Angola. Opponents begin by bowing in prayer to the berimbau player, after which they commence fighting. The fighters never touch, and during the attacks or while defending themselves, they move with remarkable agility and precision.
